Using an organization with which you are familiar, identify ways
through which feed-fonvard and feedback controls can be used to assure the h
quality of its final outcome. How do these controls lead to effective
management?
MGT 420 Grand Canyon Module 2 Assignment 1
For my previous employer feed forward controls were more than just
important. I worked in a serious environment where one mistake could cost a
person their life depending on the situation. Sure, a chain of events would
have to take place for a life to be taken but the fact that it was a
possibility existed daily. Because of that objectives had to be crystal clear,
proper directions had to be established as well as followed and resources had
to be readily available.
One of the most important resources with a micrometer to ensure
fittings were on the hoses as specified by the machines. Everything had to work
correctly and properly in order for safety to be met and production to
continue. In turn, proper feedback of what was working and what needed to be
improved upon was critical.
Both of these helped with effective management as they gave ideas
of what was taking place. The manager of the hose shop could inform the
warehouse manager of what was going to be needed so all supplies were in stock.
Other managers could question what future orders were coming through that
specific shop to keep track of supplies. Safety was a main concern which
entails and lot of safety products being used. Basically all manager keeping in
communication both for feed forward and feedback are what kept this shop
running effectively.

Solano Case.” Review the links included in Topics Materials associated with
contemporary media reporting on this school issue.
The school board has hired you as a consultant to review the

assignment from the perspective of the hired consultant. Respond to the
following questions:
1- What factors operating in Rancho Solano’s general and
specific/internal environment affected the decision to close two campuses and

Grand Canyon MGT 420 Module 3 Assignment CLC
This is a CLC assignment.
Your instructor will assign you to a Collaborative Learning
Community during Module 1.
Read the written case “Virginia Department of Transportation:
Trying to Keep Virginia Moving.” It is not necessary to view the video. Read
“VDOT Written Case.”
Read the following summary:
After winning the 2001 election, the new governor of Virginia,
Mark Warner, named Phillip Shucet to head the Virginia Department of
Transportation (VDOT). Shucet was eager to bring his private-sector experience
and management experience to VDOT, and he knew it would be a challenge. VDOT
was renowned for its engineering innovation and cutting-edge research. More
recently, though, the department’s public reputation had become damaged, and
employee morale had hit rock bottom. The case describes the situation at the
time the commissioner took over and offers a glimpse into the workings of a
large governmental agency.
As a CLC, you will submit one paper of 1,500-1,750 words in which
you examine the VDOT case study. This assignment will be completed in three
parts.
Part 1
Part 1 of your paper should address the following:
1. Identify three management theories (one from classical
approaches, one from the human relations approach, and one from the modern
management approaches) that you think would be applicable in managing VDOT and
the impact this change might have on organizational behavior within VDOT.
Justify your choices with examples.
2. Explain how VDOT has reacted to the six challenges that face
managers in the 21st century and evaluate its impact on VDOT’s effectiveness.
Part 2
Part 2 of your paper should address the following:
1. What factors operate in the VDOT’s general and
specific/internal environment, and what impact did this have on the VDOT’s
effectiveness?
2. As a result of your environmental analysis, what would you
prioritize for your long-term, mid-term, and short-term goals? Why?
